With her family involved with farming and ranching, she worked along with her father like a son. One of her main chores was to bring in the grazing cows daily to be milked, walking many miles.
She was musically inclined and began piano lessons at the age of nine. She loved to practice and did not have to help with cleaning the wishes if she was practicing. At the age of sixteen she was called to be the organist for the Snowflake Ward.
In 1940 she graduated from Snowflake High School and enrolled at Brigham Young University planning to be a school teacher. In her junior year she met a fellow student, Howard Lee Holt and their perfect union was formed. They were married January 26, 1943 in the Mesa, Arizona Temple for time and eternity.
