Fontella LaRue Simons Carter
Fontella LaRue Simons Carter passed away peacefully on November 25, 2012, with her loved ones by her side. She was born on March 28, 1936 in Mount Pleasant, Utah, to Levi Alden & Fontella White Simons.
LaRue married Vaughn Dee Long and they were sealed in the Manti LDS Temple. They raised four children together and were later divorced, but remained close through their children, grandchildren and family.
Those close to LaRue knew that she was a firecracker with a fierce unwavering love for her family. She was always a hard worker, retiring from Kimberly-Clark, only to open her own daycare where many of her grand and great-grandchildren attended. Nothing made her happier than spending time with (and spoiling) her grandkids. LaRue loved going to church, watching old movies, crocheting, traveling, giving gifts, and playing the occasional lotto.
LaRue is survived by her daughters, Colleen Long and Kay (Wes) Basham; son, James (Jacki) Long; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and nine siblings.
She was preceded in by her oldest son, William "Bill" Long; parents and siblings, Betty & Devere.
A Celebration of LaRue''s life will be held on November 30th, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Aultorest Memorial Park.
Grandma you will be deeply missed, but always will be close to our hearts and never forgotten.
