Floyd John "Jack" Francis passed away peacefully due to old age on January 3, 2026, in Ogden Utah, at the age of 92.
Jack was born November 17, 1933, in Taber, Alberta, Canada to Edwin Neils and Evaline Larsen Francis, as the youngest of 11 children. He is survived by his sister, Kay Jolley, and preceded in death by his son, Tag Edwin Francis in 1961 and his wife, Norine Francis in 2017.
He served an LDS Mission to South Africa from 1954 to 1956, then he married Norine Vandenberg, daughter of John Henry and Ariena Stok Vandenberg, on December 4, 1957, in the Salt Lake Temple. They are the parents of seven children, Anthony John, Tagg Edwin, Andrew John, Matthew John, Casey Vandenberg, Justin William Cody, and Brandi Jennifer (Wong).
Jack had a long and varied career which included ranching, real estate appraisal, working for the Utah Department of Highways, then in the US Department of Transportation Headquarters, and finally managing his beloved construction company Francis Builders, Inc.
“Big Daddy” Jack and Norine raised their six children, living in a variety of places: Pincher Creek, Alberta Canada; Salt Lake City, Utah; Vienna, Virginia; Lovettsville, Virginia; Purcellville Virginia; Provo and Sandy, Utah; the Outer Banks of North Carolina; and finally, Hawaii. After the passing of Norine in Hawaii, Jack spent his last 5 years in Ogden, Utah near family.
In church service, he served as an Elders Quorum President, a Stake Seventy, a Branch President three times, and Bishop. He also served on high councils, taught a youth Sunday School class, early morning seminary, and in Hawaii served as a temple ordinance worker.
Jack was devoted to Norine, whom he loved and cherished. They were married for 59 years. He is also survived by 6 children, 23 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. They all have been blessed by his life spent serving others with faith in Jesus Christ, and Jack, in turn, was loved by many whose lives he touched for good.
