Fern L Boyer

Ogden a€" Fern L. Boyer, age 83, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 7, 2011.

She was born January 17, 1928 in Coalville, Utah, a daughter of pioneer stock, G. Allen and Mabel L. Clark Jones. She attended North Summit High School where she met her husband, Fay W. Boyer. They were married May 28, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Later she moved to Logan with her family and attended Utah State University and graduated with a BS in Education. She taught elementary school for Weber County School District for more than 25 years and loved teaching. She spent many hours volunteering her time and talent educating her grandchildren and other children.

Fern was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In earlier years, she loved the sisters in Relief Society and working on road shows. In later years, she enjoyed attending Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and being a music leader of the Ogden Senior Citizens music group. She loved music, playing the piano, hand painting, and ceramics.

Surviving are her five boys, Dee Boyer, Gary (Peggy) Boyer, Greg (Debbie) Boyer, Stephen (Joy) Boyer, and Brent (Julee) Boyer, all of Ogden; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Valleen Shaw and Freida Orgil, of Coalville, and Lorene (Gail) Billings and Wilma (Ward) Morby, of Salt Lake City; and brother Wayne (Kay) Jones, of Coalville. She was preceded in death by her husband.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 12, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Coalville Cemetery.
