Everlena Jones

Everlena Jones of Clearfield, Utah passed away Sunday November 19, 2023 at Holy Cross Hospital in Layton, Utah.  She was born March 3, 1943 in Jackson, Mississippi to Cleveland and Susie Palmer Jones. She was raised in Tennessee and Chicago.  She traveled to Columbus, Ohio and Salt Lake City, Utah.

She married Sam Johnson, Sr. in 1964 in the old Landmark Church, they were later divorced.

She was a member of The Church of God and Christ.

Everlena was a member of the PTA, NAACP, and Rainbow/PUSH.  She enjoyed gardening, reading, listening to classic noir radio, and watching soap operas.  She always had a smile on her face and good thing to say to everyone.  Her grandchildren were the loves of her life. She loved children.

She is survived by her two sons; Samuel L. Johnson and Jamie L. Jones. Her daughters-in-laws; Shawna Johnson and Carson Roylance and her seven grandchildren; Charles, Olivia, Evelyn,  Elina, Amanda, Quinn and Alex, also a close family friend Raevyn  Alsup.

Everlena was preceded in death by her father Cleveland and mother Susie Palmer Jones , her older brother Curly C. Jones and her ex-husband Sam L. Johnson, Sr.

Thank you to the staff of Rocky Mountain Care Center and the staff of Holy Cross Hospital for their loving care of our mother.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah.  Friends may visit with family Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary prior to the service.
