On September 19, 2025, our sweet mom, grandma, and friend, Evelyn Brown Warby, passed away at age 90. She left this world just as she lived in it—full of love, laughter, and surrounded by family.
She was born on May 4, 1935, in Springville, Utah, at her Grandma Brown’s home. Evelyn was the first child of Glenn W. Brown and Francis Dunn Brown Stone. She grew up in Springville, Spanish Fork, UT and Green River, WY, where she also attended school.
On September 29, 1951, she married the love of her life, Keith Calvin Warby, in Green River, Wyoming. Together, they built a life centered on family, friends, community, and service.
Evelyn was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including as a Primary, MIA, and Relief Society teacher. She was also actively involved in her community. She worked as a playground supervisor at Club Heights Elementary, volunteered as a Pink Lady at McKay-Dee Hospital photographing newborns, and served as president of Union Pacific Old Timers No. 6. She was a member of the Challengers Club, participating in the Park View, Burch Creek, and Club Heights community councils in South Ogden. She also served in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Eagles #2472 and American Legion Auxiliary Post 139.
Evelyn had many passions: camping, fishing, quilting, embroidery, sewing, ceramics, and scrapbooking—she created 40 beautiful scrapbooks for her family. She especially loved playing the card game “31” with friends and family. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren—five generations in all.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Dennis) Melaney of Layton, and her daughter, Rhonda Vlaanderen of Ogden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith (Rudy); daughter, Brenda Dayton; and Rhonda Vlaanderen’s husband, Mark; son, Calvin Warby; grandson, Chad Dayton; sisters, Jeannette Snyder and Vickie Gerber; and many other cherished family and friends.
The family would like to express deep gratitude to the staff at Family Tree of West Point, especially Maddie, Helen, Janis, Saige, Alexa, Lilly, and others who cared for Evelyn with such love. A special thank you to TY McIntosh from Utah Home Health, Ashlee, Andrea, and Jeff for their care and companionship.
Heartfelt thanks go to Rhonda Stewart, who brought Sunday dinners to Evelyn for two years and visited her often, Mickie Ramsey, Nancy Hill, Sandy Gilmore, David and Jenny Shepard, Mary Myers and many other family and friends—for their love, support, and service.
Evelyn was deeply loved by her nieces and nephews and cherished everyone who touched her life.
Her obituary was largely written by Evelyn herself—always prepared, always thoughtful.
Her daughters write:
Linda: “I loved taking care of her these past years. It was an honor and a gift.”
Rhonda: “I loved taking care of her in our short time living together and watching dancing with the stars together.”
