Evelyn Mosher Hartmann passed away surrounded by family on the evening of December 8, 2025. She was born April 19, 1937, in Ogden, Utah to Donald Hay and Lillian Ruth Stark Mosher. Evelyn spent her childhood in Ogden and graduated from Ben Lomond High School in 1955.
In May of 1957 she married Bill Herrick in Ogden. They later divorced. During their marriage they had three children, Julie, Shelley, and Jeff. Evelyn's children were the light of her life.
On July 31, 1971, she married Richard Hartmann in Elko, Nevada in the presence of their friends. They went on to build their dream house brick by brick in South Ogden.
Evelyn spent her career at Hill Air Force Base first as a data processor, later on moving into procurement. She was granted an early retirement, finishing her professional career after 31 years of dedicated service.
She spent most days of her retirement tending to her garden, crocheting afghans, or spending time with the other “lights of her life” her beloved grandchildren, never missing a ball game or recital. Evelyn and Rich also took annual trips with their church group The Philadelphia Church of God. Some of their favorite destinations included Banff, Canada and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Those who love Evelyn will remember her for what an extraordinary woman she was. She was thoughtful, quick-witted, generous, and extremely hardworking. She never judged anyone; she left that up to God. She was known for her contagious laugh and fighting spirit until the very end.
Evelyn and Richard spent 54 years together, passing away just four days apart.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Shelley (Bill) Alvey; son, Jeff (Sandy) Herrick; and a son-in-law, David Castañeda, as well as 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Rick.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Julie; her parents; her brothers, Richard, Bobby, Loren, Leonard, Arthur, Kyle, and Walter; and her only sister, Lillian Sonner; as well as her favorite cat, Kiki.
