Evan Leland Jensen, of Preston, Idaho, crossed through the veil on June 24, 2025. Evan passed away at 100 years old due to kidney failure.
Evan was born to Ezra Peter and Nina Van Fleet Jensen on January 31, 1925, at home in Garland, Box Elder County, Utah. He was the middle child of five siblings; two brothers and two sisters, who all preceded him in death.
Evan grew up in Garland. Many memories of growing up in Garland. He was very active in the Boy Scouts of America, receiving his Eagle rank on his 15th birthday, then continuing to receive his Bronze and Gold palms.
He enlisted in the US Navy when he was 18 years old, serving as a baker at Naval Air Station Point Mugu (California), Hawaii, Philippines, and China. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, Evan served in the Army Air Corps Reserves, which later became the US Air Force.
Evan graduated from Utah State Agricultural College (now Utah State University) in 1949 with a degree in Business Administration and Economics. He worked for the US Department of Agriculture, the Postal Transportation Service, then the US Air Force until his retirement in 1980. In his later years Evan reminded his children that he was retired longer than he had worked.
Evan and Jean Hopkin were married February 12, 1954, at his parents’ home in Ogden, Utah. They had three children, Mark, Ann, and Karen. Evan and Jean loved camping in their trailer, in Arches National Park for Easter weekend, on their property in the Uintas or seeing new places. They also enjoyed traveling after Papa retired. Papa always loved having his family together.
Evan is survived by his children, Mark E. (Jody), Ann (Vernon) Condie, and Karen (Steve) Chesler; 10 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Joan Jensen.
Preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and his two brothers and two sisters, Lucile (Enoch) Thorne, Dale Ezra, Mary Jean (Ronald) Ballingham, and Grant; and his beloved dog Weiler.
