Eva Jones Jensen passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Seasons Assisted Living from natural causes, being 96 years old.
She was born December 1, 1921 in Hooper, Utah to Hyrum and Florence Flinders Jones. She was one of eleven children and graduated from Weber High School in 1940. I
n February of 1942, Eva married George Elwood Dawson, the marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They later divorced. In 1969, she married Victor E. Jensen and divorced.
Eva has been a resident of the Riverdale Senior Center for the past 13 years. She was a gentle caring person, a great mom, grandparent, teacher, mentor, volunteer and dedicated friend to all she met.
She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Riverdale 7th Ward where she had many friends and served in multiple callings. She was also an active member of The Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Eva worked at the Ogden Arsenal then Hill AFB where she traveled all over the world and retired after 30 years. She then became a consultant to the Air Force with Texas Instruments for another 19 years.
She enjoyed bowling, golfing, and card playing. She was a fierce competitor in everything she did.
Eva is survived by two daughters, Carol (Rex) Robinson, Phoenix, AZ; Gayle (Garry) Watson, Farr West; one son, Gerald (Joy) Dawson, West Haven; 20 grandchildren 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, four sisters, one daughter, Kathleen Pacheco, and one grandson.
A special thanks to the staff of Symbii Home Health and Hospice, Seasons Assisted Living and Riverdale Senior Center for all of their love and care. A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 12 to 1:15 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. A short service will follow.
