Erna Louise Stuart, age 70, died peacefully on Monday morning, June 23, 2025, in Ogden’s McKay-Dee Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Erna was born on November 24,1954 to Thelma Georgia Kendell and Glen Wilson Stuart.
She spent her early years in Ogden, Utah where she attended Dee Elementary School. When she was nine, her family moved to Layton, Utah, where she attended Vae View Elementary, North Layton Jr. High, and graduated from Layton High School. She also attended Weber State University.
Erna was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and served a mission in Louisiana. She loved her time serving in the Primary and as a meeting house librarian. She was an active member of the local Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
Erna loved crafting of any sort and especially enjoyed making cards. She spent many hours creating lovely birthday cards for family, friends and Relief Society sisters. She made placemats and coasters on looms and made lovely, crocheted pillowcases, aprons, tablecloths and dish towels. Her hands were always busy.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Glen E. Stuart. Her surviving family members are her sister Wilma S. Adams (Gary), her brother Edward C. Stuart and his wife Kathy, her sister-in-law Joan K. Stuart, nine nieces and nephews, 21 great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday June 30, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Vae View Ward Chapel, 1715 W. 1600 N., Layton, Utah. Family and friends may visit Sunday June 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah and Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church.
Interment will be in the Uintah Cemetery
