Erma Mikesell Wade

November 26, 1935 — April 22, 2023

Erma Mikesell Wade passed away on April 22, 2023, peacefully in her sleep. She was born in Pocatello, Idaho on November 26, 1935, to Nelva Aller.  She was later adopted by her aunt and uncle (Della and George Willard Mikesell).  She grew up in Pocatello, Idaho and graduated from Pocatello High School.

After graduating from high school, she moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where she lived in the Beehive House for young ladies. While there she met her best friend, Raelene Wood.

While living in Salt Lake City, mom also met the love of her life and eternal companion William Ernest Wade. They were married on July 21, 1956. Shortly after they were blessed with their first child Terry Lynn. Two years later they welcomed their second daughter Vicki Ann; However, she passed away shortly after birth.

In 1962 the family moved to their home in Clearfield, Utah. Mom was expecting her third child (Jeffrey Bryan) who was born the following year. While living in Clearfield mom's life was full of service to her family and her ward. She was also able to make lifelong friends.

Mom loved to garden, where she would grow the fruits and vegetables we would use throughout the year. She would crochet, needle point, and make quilts for her family.

After her children were in school, mom went back to work at Sears and became a manager in the parts department. She worked there until she retired in 1987.

After her husband retired in 1993, they became “snowbirds” and lived in Saint George, Utah. While in Saint George, they served a LDS mission together.

In 2004, mom and dad decided to move back to Clearfield to help take care of their family. She also volunteered at the “Daughters of the Utah Pioneer’s Museum.”

When her eternal companion became sick, she took care of him full time until his death in 2010. While taking care of her husband she also took care of other ward members who were sick at the time.

She is survived by her daughter Terry Lynn Hurst (Clearfield) and her son Jeffrey Bryan Wade (Bluffdale). She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband (William Ernest Wade), her daughter (Vicki Ann Wade), Nelva Blake (biological mother), James (Jim) Blake (stepfather), her adoptive parents (Della and George Willard Mikesell), her brothers DeWayne Blake and Hyrum Mikesell, her sisters Emma Jo Weller and Wilma Olsen.

We would like to thank Intermountain Health and Hospice for the wonderful care they provided our mother.
