Emma Jo Avitt Foulger
Emma Jo Foulger, 80, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. She was born on July 5, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri to Pete and Mayme E. Custer Avitt. She attended schools in Iowa and South Dakota. She graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She moved to Ogden in 1953.
As a young girl Emma Jo was very active in Sioux Falls Baptist Church. She served as a Sunday and Bible School Teacher. She enjoyed singing in the church and school choirs. When she moved to Ogden she became a member of the Ogden Baptist Church.
Emma Jo married Harold L. Foulger on April 27, 1972 in Evanston, Wyoming.
She worked as a secretary for the Federal Government in the Defense Logistics Agency for many years. After retiring she became a member of the National Association of Retired Persons.
She was in a bowling league for many years. Emma Jo loved to go shopping and attend to her roses. She took pleasure in not only singing, but listening to music. She loved listening to the songs of birds, reading and flowers. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Emma Jo is survived by her sons, Bruce (Marilyn), and Scott (Wendy); 5 grandchildren, Eric, Lisa, Erin, Amber and Bryan; 2 great-grandchildren, Adrianna and Benjamin; and brother, Dale (Carla) Avitt.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 10, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Aultorest Memorial Park.
Emma Jo appreciated her grandchildren, nieces and nephews along with her friends at DDO.
