Elsie Lurinda Hicks Andersen

August 15, 1947 — December 21, 2024

Our dear wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Lue Andersen, of Syracuse, Utah, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 21, 2024.

Lue was born August 15, 1947, in Jackson, Michigan, to her loving parents, Jesse James Hicks and Susannie Flannery Hicks. She was the oldest of five siblings.

Lue graduated from Jackson High School and enjoyed reading, dancing, music, and spending time with her family.

Lue married Poul Andersen on October 26, 1968, and together they had six children, Erik, Mark, Roy, Maren, Poul Jr., and Megan. They resided in Royal Oak and Rochester, Michigan, before settling on the family farm in Richmond, Michigan where they resided until relocating to Syracuse, Utah, in 2022.

Lue was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served others throughout her life demonstrating generosity, kindness, and compassion for those around her.

She was especially known for her beautiful singing voice and her love of music. She enjoyed participating in the Michigan Mormon Concert Choir. She also had the privilege to sing with the Michigan Temple dedicatory choir.

Lue was a fantastic story teller and loved sharing stories from her childhood. Lue was loving and kind to all. Her kids’ friends all loved her and many considered her a second mom thanks to her love, acceptance, kind advice, and treating them as one of her own.

Lue will be greatly missed as a faithful wife, nurturing mother, kind grandmother, sweet sister, and dear friend.

Lue is survived by her husband, Poul Andersen Sr., and her children, Erik and Andrea Andersen, Mark and Margaret Andersen, Roy and Jennifer Andersen, Maren Andersen, Poul Andersen Jr., and Megan and Aaran Mehr, 12 grandchildren, and by three of her siblings, James Hicks, Sam Hicks, and Jessica Schmidt. Lue is preceded in death by her parents and by her sister, Dorothy Barber.

Lue’s family is grateful to all who have cared for her, prayed for her, and visited her during her last few years.
