Eloisa Roybal, a remarkable woman whose life touched many hearts through her dedication, love, and faith, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, in Ogden, Utah. Born on October 13, 1936, in Capulin, Colorado, Eloisa’s journey was one marked by devotion to family, education, and community—an enduring legacy that will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew her.
A woman of profound intellect and compassion, Eloisa earned a Master’s Degree in Education, a testament to her unwavering commitment to learning and teaching. Her career as a second-grade teacher profoundly impacted countless young lives. Beyond the classroom, she served with grace as a Sunday School teacher and was a beacon of inspiration as the President of the Women’s Ministries of the San Luis Valley Section. Through these roles, Eloisa exemplified the virtues of patience, kindness, and unwavering faith, guiding many with her gentle spirit.
Eloisa was not only a devoted educator and community leader but also a proud pastor’s wife—an achievement she held close to her heart. Her role alongside her husband, Rudy Roybal, whom she outlived, was one of quiet strength, embodying partnership and spiritual support.
Her hands and heart were busy with many passions that enriched her life and those around her. Eloisa’s love for cooking, embroidery, quilting, and canning reflected her creative soul; while camping and fishing brought her closer to nature’s wonders. She found joy in reading, a lifelong companion that nourished her mind and spirit.
More than any title or accomplishment, Eloisa was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She demonstrated the deepest love and care within her family circle. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Rudy Roybal; parents Christobal and Anita Montoya; beloved daughter Olga Roybal; sisters Oralia (Juan) Bueno, Laura (Walter) Espinoza, and Becky Arispe; brother Dennis Montoya; and daughter-in-law Laurie Roybal.
Left to cherish her memory are her cherished children: Kerry (Mary) Roybal, Michael Roybal, Sharon (Armando) Hernandez, and Esther (Lyle) Montoya. She found immense joy in her role as grandmother to ten grandchildren and great-grandmother to twenty-three, a remarkable extended family that now includes one great-great-grandchild—a testament to the enduring gift of her love. Eloisa’s surviving siblings and in-laws who held a special place in her heart include Ronnie (Sheryl) Montoya, Carlos Arispe, Pauline Torres, Susie (Eddie) Mestas, and Rose (Frank) Martinez.
Eloisa’s final moments were surrounded by her loving family, embodying the embrace of the life she so fully lived. Her gentle soul and steadfast spirit leave a luminous imprint upon all who had the privilege to know her.
As we reflect on Eloisa’s life, we honor a woman whose grace shaped her family, whose passion inspired a community, and whose love will forever be a guiding light. Her story is one of unwavering devotion to faith, family, and the joy of teaching—an enduring legacy that will continue to inspire for generations to come.
The Roybal Family would like to thank all staff at Legacy House for all the care, attention, and love they provided Eloisa. They would also like to thank the nurses at Inspiration Hospice for the special care provided in her final days.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 4, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Syracuse Mortuary, 869 South 2000 West. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Hooper City Cemetery.
