Elisabeth Coombs passed away at the age of 83 on February 25, 2026, in Farmington, Utah.
She was born on August 25, 1942, in the small town of Huttenheim, Germany, to Georg and Emma Sommerer-Bauer. She was the youngest of four children, following her siblings Friedrich, Marga, and Ludwig. From an early age, Elisabeth developed an adventurous spirit and spontaneity that would shape her life’s journey.
In the mid-1960s, Elisabeth immigrated to the United States in pursuit of opportunity and adventure. She married the love of her life, Jerry, in 1969, and together they built a life and raised their family in Kaysville, Utah. She was a devoted mother to her three children: William, David, and Christina.
Becoming a United States citizen was one of Elisabeth’s proudest accomplishments. The song “Coming to America” by Neil Diamond held special meaning for her, reflecting both her journey and her gratitude for the country she came to call home.
With the loving support of her husband and a deep appreciation for her German heritage, Elisabeth opened up Liesel's European Delicatessen in Layton, Utah, which she successfully operated for 18 years. Through her business, she loved sharing and participating in the flavors, traditions, and hospitality of her homeland with her community.
Her life experiences taught her the value of careful stewardship; she lived, saving and spending wisely, so she could invest in travel and meaningful family experiences. She had a strong love for her homeland and wanted to keep her family connected. Elisabeth’s strong sense of adventure and spontaneous nature and lifestyle led to many enjoyable family travel experiences back to Germany.
She cherished holiday traditions, finding great joy in giving, celebrating, and gathering with family and friends.
A woman of strong faith, Elisabeth served in a local LDS Church missionary service capacity with her husband and loved singing in the church choir. Her faith and service were guiding lights throughout her life.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Legacy House of Park Lane and Inspiration Hospice for their compassionate and professional care during her final days.
She is lovingly remembered by her son David; her daughter Christina Webb and son-in-law Nathaniel; and her beloved grandsons Andrew, Brandon, and Oliver. Her legacy of courage, faith, adventure, and devotion to family will live on in them and in all who knew her.
Elisabeth will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
