Elinora Maria Theresia Grundmann Neilson

Elinora Maria Theresia Grundmann Neilson, 91, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at her home in North Ogden with her loved ones by her side. She fought very courageously for over a year battling Sarcoma. She was born on November 16, 1931 in Breslau, Schlesien, Germany. She attended art school in Germany, and worked as a commercial artist until she attended engineering school in Germany as well. She retired Civil Service from the U.S. Federal Government in 1993.

Elinor lived in Germany from 1931 until 1968. She lived in a few different German towns, the last one being Dortmund.

In 1968, Elinor moved to Ogden, Utah to marry the love of her life Lloyd Wayne Neilson. They were married on November 27, 1968. They were together for over 52 years until Lloyd’s passing on May 12, 2021.

Elinor was a devout member of the Catholic Church, and attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ogden, Utah for many years.

She was a very talented artist, and an expert seamstress. She had impeccable taste in fashion, which came from working in a fashion house in Germany. Elinor’s love of architecture and interior design inspired her to assist in designing their custom home in Uintah Highlands in South Ogden. Together with her husband Lloyd, they endeavored in their entrepreneurial pursuits, formerly owning two bars and several income properties. They were “flipping” houses before the term was even coined. Elinor also loved to travel, and toured Europe, Mexico, and the Caribbean with her husband and daughter.

Elinor is survived by her only child, Tina Theresia Neilson (Brian Holtz-Fiancé). She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 12 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 514 24^th Street, Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.
