Listen to Obituary

Eleanor Hart was born August 18, 1931, in San Diego California. Her parents are James White and Margot Arvilla Lund. She is survived by her brother Clyde Lund White and her 3 sons, Dave, Dan and Chris. She has four grandchildren, Diana, Jason, Bryan and Allison and four great- grandchildren, Gerardo, Kelsey, Minda and Isaiah.

Her family moved to Bountiful Utah during her teenage years where she attended Davis High School. There she took an art class and developed her art talent. Also, while attending Davis High, she became acquainted with Mary Lou Hart. Later after her graduation, she met and dated Mary’s brother Haven Day Hart. On October 27, 1952, they were married in the Salt Lake Temple. They moved into a home in Bountiful UT, built by her husband Haven, which is at the foot of the mountain just below the Bountiful “B”. She always referred to her home as “The house upon the hill.”

There, she learned the skills of farming, gardening and bottling food. Eleanor and Haven had three boys, Dave, Dan and Chris. Eleanor instilled in them the values of work in the home and in the garden as they grew and matured. After 17 years of being married, she divorced and moved from “The house upon the hill “to a home, not upon the hill, just Southwest of the mortuary there. The courts awarded her custody of Dave and Dan and Chris and gave Dave the option of who he wanted to live with. He chose to live with his father, Haven, and visited his mom on occasions. She raised the two younger boys and taught them the gospel, honesty, good values, work, strong study habits, good health habits, exercise and doing the right things.

Eleanor taught by example. She never learned how to drive so she walked everywhere she needed locally. Her grocery store was Reams, and her general store was Grand Central. At the grocery store, she would buy very healthy ingredients to make her own bread, meals and desserts. On occasion, she would take her two boys to a burger joint on Main St in Bountiful. One summer she got adventurous and fixed up an old bicycle she had, painted it and rode that to places she had to go. That didn’t last long, she didn’t have any baskets on the bike and had a hard time trying to manage grocery bags on the handlebars. She shared with people that she had artistic ability and did some artwork for folks in the neighborhood and in her ward. As time went on, she wanted to develop some musical talent, so she learned how to play the guitar and the organ. She really enjoyed learning the organ and as her ability grew, she would record tapes of the songs she learned and shared with family, friends and her ward. She gave the tapes away as birthday, Christmas and Easter gifts. She was very proud to share her new-found organ music talent.

She was in good health for quite a while until her later years when arthritis took over which made it hard for her to walk and get around. As she aged, her health declined which kept her home bound. In time, she was admitted to the hospital for a few days, then sent back home under hospice care, only living a day and a half before she passed. Eleanor was greatly loved and appreciated for being a devoted mom, grandmother and great-grandmother.
