Elayne Lillian Day

July 25, 1941 — June 17, 2023

Elayne Lillian Day passed away on Saturday June 17, 2023. Elayne was born to John Lloyd and Lenore Parsons Egan on July 25, 1941 in San Antonio, Texas.

She is survived by her amazing husband David; her siblings, Pam Merkley, Kevin Egan, Richard Egan and Marlon Egan; her six daughters Ruth Ann (Kendall) Tidwell, Myrna (Ernie) Moll, Cynthia (Steve) Bernards, Sharon (Kyle) Finlinson, Donna (Mark) Newkirk and Melissa (David) Nelson as well as 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Mom graduated from Davis High School and she later went on to study Elementary Education at Weber State University. After graduating with a degree in Elementary Education, she taught school for 17 years in the Davis County School District.

On September 8, 1961 she wed David B Day for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple. They went on to have six daughters whom they are both devoted to.

Mom had many talents and hobbies. One of which she enjoyed was playing the organ. She would spend hours practicing and quickly increased in skill and talent. She freely shared this talent with her family and others often.

Mom also spent many hours on the computer furthering our family history. She shared this love with

her grandchildren by giving them family names which they could take to the temple, encouraging them

to participate in this work she loved.

When Mom wasn’t playing the organ or doing family history you could find her cuddled up in a chair,

knitting, quilting, or crocheting a new project, which when completed would almost always be gifted to someone.

Mom was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; she shared her

testimony with others by faithfully serving in many callings. Her and Dad also served in the Cincinnati, Ohio mission office, providing support to the mission president and missionaries, a time in which she treasured.

Elayne was preceded in death by her Father John, Mother Lenore and Brother John Jr.
