Elaine Pilgrim Naegle

Elaine Pilgrim Naegle, age 98, beloved mom, stepmom, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at her home in Clearfield, Utah.

She was born May 27, 1926, in Oral, Fall River County, S.D., to Frank and Emma Friedrick, the fifth of six children. She attended elementary school in Oral, graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1943, then worked for the First National Bank of Black Hills and Fall River County Courthouse.

She married Don Pilgrim in Rapid City, S.D. on May 8, 1945, where he was stationed at Rapid City Air Force Base. She spent over 20 years as an U.S. Air Force wife and lived in South Dakota, Wyoming, Hawaii, Alabama and Utah. He died in 1979. She is survived by her three children - Gary and Geri Pilgrim, Syracuse; Sue Mitchell, Clearfield; and Linda Pilgrim, Syracuse. She has thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She married Clare Naegle in Lake Tahoe, NV, on Sept. 6, 1986, and lived in Clearfield since their marriage. He died in 2018. She is survived by the three stepchildren she gained from this marriage: Mike and Terry Naegle, Brad and Karon Naegle, and Lorri and Doug Aldridge, several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Ogden and later for BeeGees Apparel in Roy.

She also had a wonderful relationship with many of her nieces and nephews. A very special thank you to the many extended family that continued to reach out to her over the years.

The family would like to recognize her long time caregiver, April Milliner for her compassion and caring of both Elaine and previously her husband Clare.

Her hobbies and interests were traveling with her family, playing cards and spending time with her extended family.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday May 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah. Family and friends may visit Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary prior to the service.

Interment will be held at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah.
