CLEARFIELD a€" Elaine Stevens Gailey was called home by her Heavenly Father on January 28, 2012, at the age of eighty-five. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts to Della Stevens Chaplin and raised by her grandparents, Ida and Alfred Stevens. At six years of age her grandparents relocated to the west, where she grew up in Layton, Utah. She graduated from Davis High School.

Elaine worked at the Navy Base at Clearfield, later retiring from Hill Air Force Base after thirty-five years of service. She also worked at Skipper''s and was an owner of Magic Fingers Beauty Salon of Sunset, Utah.

Elaine married Eugene Milton Ellis. From this union came a daughter, Barbara. They later divorced. She married Howard McGee Owen and they became the parents of Jeffrey Steven Owen, and step-sons Creighton Howard Owen and Wayne K. Owen. Howard passed away in 1961.

In 1972 Elaine married Frank Allen Gailey, Sr. They enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. Elaine enjoyed all sports, especially the Cubs, the Jazz, and the Celtics. She bowled in leagues for many years. She loved listening to the Tabernacle Choir and did genealogy work.

Elaine is survived by her children, Barbara (Marvin) Patterson and Jeffrey Owen, step-children Wayne (Marcia) Owen, Jerry (Debbie) Gailey, Patsy Bolin, Shelly Bolin, Frank (Carey) Gailey, Jr., and Eric Gailey, 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 42 great-great grandchildren, her brothers Bruce Chaplin and Leo Merrill, and sister Aurilla Heiner. She is preceded in death by step-son Creighton Owen and step-daughter Julie Gailey.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 2 p.m., at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the mortuary.

Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery.
