Elaine Howell Fewell

September 4, 1943 — June 24, 2024

Our sweet mother, Elaine Howell-Fewell, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Monday, June 24, 2024.

She is the daughter of Keith Lusk Howell and Georgia Fullmer Howell. She was born and raised in Logan, Utah. She attended Logan High School and Utah State University where she majored with her BS degree in Family Life and Early Childhood Education and minored in Art.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings which included: Primary chorister and teacher. Relief Society teacher and compassionate service leader and faithful visiting teacher. She loved the callings that engaged her service with children, because she was a child at heart herself. She served a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the New Zealand, South Mission where she had many spiritual experiences. She absolutely loved the people of New Zealand and would often share her many wonderful times serving the beautiful people of that country.

She married Robert David Fewell on April 16, 1970 in the Salt Lake Temple and later divorced in June of 1994. She put herself through school working at Logan Hospital as a phone operator. After graduating from USU, she went on her full time mission. Upon returning, she started teaching Kindergarten. About a year or so later, she quit teaching and worked for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the history department handling important church documents. After the birth of her first child, she returned to working full time. This time at Humana Hospital, Davis North in Layton, UT where she worked for 30 years. She worked for an additional year at ATP insurance in Bountiful, UT where she eventually retired.

Mom still had her sense of humor even up until shortly before her passing. She valued her time with her grandson, nieces, nephews and many of the neighborhood kids. She loved to teach and serve others as was evident in her past service and everyday life.

Preceded in death by her parents, Keith Lusk Howell and Georgia Fullmer Howell, her brother Steven Keith Howell, son in law, Joseph D. Colby, and her grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her children: Catherine Fewell, Christine (John) Colby-Neville, R. David (Cassidy) Fewell, Grandchildren: Christian Douglas Colby and Reese Jay Neville. Her brother, Jon C. Howell of Wyoming. And many nieces, nephews and their families and cousins.
