Edward Smith

Edward Smith, a proud veteran, passed away Monday, February 13th, 2023.

The son of William Francis Smith and Viola Brooks Smith, Edward Smith grew up in Florence, New Jersey. He was born March 24, 1950 and attended Florence Township Memorial High School in Florence, New Jersey. and graduated in 1968. Edward accepted Christ early and was baptized at St.Paul Baptist Church. He faithfully attended Sunday School and Sunday Worship Service prior to entering the Armed Forces of the United States.

At nineteen, Edward Smith enlisted in the United States Air Force, he valued this service highly,, and attained the rank of E-5. As a Vietnam era veteran he was passionate about military education.

Edward is survived by his companion Rose Tafoya, brother Victor Smith, children Edward Smith and Fikisha Smith, step-children Mark Hickerson and Carla Betters, grandchildren Edward Smith, Aaliyah Smith, Camron Smith, Kayla Smith and Xavier Phillips, great-grandchild Jiraiya Smith, step-grandchildren Marcus Hickerson, Lailani Hickerson, Aleece Betters, Denise Betters, Quentin Betters, Steven Hickerson, Kenneth St. Sauver, Adam Serda, Tristan St. Sauver, Anthony St. Sauver and Nathan Hickerson.

He is preceded in death by his parents William Francis Smith and Viola Brooks Smith, sisters Patricia Moore, and Sylvia Smith, and his step-children, Charles Hickerson and Marlene Hickerson.

His loved ones will remember that he was a quick-witted movie buff, that enjoyed fishing trips (drowning worms) where he and his son would never catch anything.

A Celebration of Life honoring Edward Smith will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, February 21st, 2023 at the VFW 907 West 12th St, Ogden, UT 84404. Military Honors will be provided. Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary.
