In the early morning hours of June 7, 2025, Edward Joseph Lusienski quietly left this world with his daughter by his side.
Ed was born on September 18, 1949 in Provo, Utah to Edward John Lusienski and Mary Josephine Fitzgerald Lusienski. Affectionately known as “Eddie”, he was the oldest of three boys. The family would temporarily reside in California (where a street was named after him near Marina) and Nevada, eventually returning to the Salt Lake Valley where Ed would call home for the remainder of his life.
In 1967, Ed graduated from Judge Memorial Catholic High School in Salt lake City and went on to attend the University of Utah, earning a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Science Specialty in 1974. A job with Sperry Univac (eventually known as Unisys) followed that led to a 40+ year career that he found fulfilling because, as he put it, “computers are math.” He later earned an MBA in 1989, also from the University of Utah.
Ed met Janice Jones and her young son Gregory through a mutual friend. They married on June 24, 1978. The newly minted family of 3 would be completed with the birth of a daughter, Laura Elizabeth a few years later.
A lifelong reader, Ed would often be found in his arm chair with a book in hand. In the last few years, Perry Mason marathons and Bridge games with friends at the local senior centers would provide him great pleasure. Although there are no grandchildren, Ed played the doting grandfather role to whatever 4 legged creature his daughter would bring home. He wouldn’t admit it, but she saw the joy and companionship they gave him, especially the horses.
Ed is survived by his daughter, Laura; stepson, Gregory; brother, Philip. Preceded in death by his parents; wife Janice; brother, Douglas.
