Earl S. Jones

Earl Stanley Jones died peacefully May 23, 2016 surrounded by his family.  Born in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 11, 1929 to Stanley Jones and Esther Janet Maycock, Earl grew up loving people and sports.  He played basketball and tennis where his friendliness and wit earned him many friends on and off the court.

Earl had an unwavering testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and a desire to serve.  He fulfilled a full-time mission to the British Isles for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served his country during the Korean War in the Air Force Reserves.

He married the love of his life, Mary (Helen) Stark, on August 14, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple.  Together they had four daughters and 50 happy years before her passing in March 2002.  Earl felt his greatest accomplishment was being a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Earl worked as an executive for Bank of Utah, Walker Bank, and First Interstate Bank where he learned to appreciate the value of a dollar, saving his money, time and talents to share generously with his family and friends. Retirement presented new opportunities for him to make more friends serving with United Way and working at Air-O Fasteners.

Earl found love a second time marrying Helen Engman Davis on November 12, 2002.  They enjoyed combined family gatherings, traveling and working in the Bountiful Temple.

Preceded in death by M. Helen Jones, wife, Helen E. Davis, wife, Stanley Jones, father, Esther Janet Maycock Jones, mother, and Shirley Ann Jones, sister.

Survived by his children Teresa (Ricky) Moore, Laura (Stephen) Parker, Linda (Geoff) Jensen, Carolyn (Gary) Lee, Christy (Mike) Lofgran, Jerry (Dawn) Davis, Marvin Davis, Steven (Wendy) Davis, Richard (Kathy) Davis, 28 grandchildren, 20 ½ great-grandchildren, his sister Janet Little and his brothers Byron (Barbara) Jones and Ralph (Tamara) Jones.

Special thanks to Heritage Place and Symbii Home Health and Hospice (Emily & Jessica) for their kind and compassionate service to Dad.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, May 27, 2016 at the Bountiful 20th Ward Chapel, 102 E. 1400 S.  Friends may visit family Thursday, May 26th from 6-8 pm at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. and Fri. 9:30-10:30 am at the Church prior to services.  Interment Bountiful City Cemetery.
