Listen to Obituary

Dwight Lee Martin was born November 3, 1946, in St. Louis, Missouri to Don Martin and Dorothy Patricia Cutty.

He has three sisters Donna Everett, Sarah Robey, and Debra Martin, all who live in West Frankfort, Illinois. Dwight was raised in West Frankfort and went by the nickname “Buster” all his life by his family. He also has many nieces and nephews and one sister-in-law.

Dwight served and was honorably discharged from the Air Force. He worked at Hill Air Force Base as a Program Manager for the Minuteman Missile System.

Dwight was Free Mason. He belonged to Unity Lodge #18 in Ogden, Utah. There he had the honor to hold the office of Worshipful Master. Dwight was a member of Eastern Star, Miriam #14 in Ogden, Utah. The Scottish Rite 32 Degree and also the Shriners. While at the Shriners at times, Dwight would dress up as “Bingo” the clown (which fit him well).

Dwight was outgoing, had a great sense of humor, and was very down to earth.

Dwight had a great love for golf. He loved playing the game with his wife. When traveling, if possible, the clubs would be with them.

Dwight had the personality to make new friends. Not all, but many were made on the golf course.

There were close friendships, that had a very special place in Dwight’s heart. (Both on and off the course).

After retiring, part of the week that end with “day” Dwight would be playing golf, if possible.

Dwight is survived by his wife, Linda, who was his golf partner for 38 years.

He will surely be missed by those who knew him, mostly by his family, but especially his wife and puppy.

Dwight was preceded in death by his parents. In-laws, Brother-in-laws, Mike Robey, Harold Everett, Leslie (Butch) Acker and Michael Acker.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, 1275 E. Fairfax Road, Salt Lake City, UT 84103.

His wife would like to thank Applegate Home Care and Hospice for the care and kindness they gave to Dwight in his last days.
