Duane Clark Naylor
10/22/1931 ~ 03/01/2012
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday March 1, 2012. He was 80 years old and was born at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 22, 1931 to James and Elva LaVee Clark Naylor. He was preceded in death by parents, older brother (Ronald James Naylor), and wife (Wanda Fae Haskell Naylor).
He graduated from Granite High School and married his sweetheart Wanda. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple and later divorced. (Wanda passed away on February 18, 2005). They were blessed with four children, Gary, Terry, Kent and Connie. He began his life-long career at Hill Air Force Base working on planes and jets as a mechanic. He soon joined the Utah Army National Guard where he was a Medic in the 1334th Engineering Division receiving Sergeant First Class.
He enjoyed his job at HAFB and spent much time traveling on "temporary duty" (TDY), in places like Japan and Hawaii. He retired in the Ariel Optics Division from Hill Air Force Base after 42 years of service. He kept himself very busy caring for his family by working as a gas station mechanic at nights and weekends as well as HAFB. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he served in many positions, Elders Quorum President, Executive Secretary to the Bishop of the Kimball South Salt Lake Ward and his favorite calling being a Home Teacher. Duane was a kind and generous person who always made those around him feel special and appreciated. He left a great legacy of the importance of family, love and laughter. He loved nature and being in it. He instilled this love of nature with his family as they spent every year in Star Valley (Smoot) Wyoming at the cabin on Cottonwood Lake. He taught us the ethic of hard work by his example. He loved all people and saw to it that they felt his love. He had a strong passion for music and loved to listen to his grandchildren perform. The joy of his life was his grandchildren and great grand children, he attended everything they did, and thrilled in their accomplishments.
He married Anita Louise Kohler (Simister) on December 8, 2003, later they were sealed in the Bountiful Temple. He loved and appreciated the companionship and loving care that she gave him through the end of his life.
He is survived by his wife Anita, son Gary Duane Naylor (Sharon Lyn), of Fruit Heights, daughter Terry Lee Price, of Bountiful, son James Kent Naylor (Jill), of Kaysville, daughter Connie Jean Whicker (Benjamin Mark), of Syracuse and step daughter Christine Simister, of Ogden, twenty one grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank all the friends who loved and cared for Duane throughout his life. Duane loved his wife and family, scenic drives, warm weather, the cabin and short obituaries. (Oh Well!)
