SYRACUSE a€" Dr. Leo Douglas Miller, 78, passed away peacefully at his home in Syracuse on Thursday, May 3, 2007. Leo was born April 22, 1929, in Taber, Alberta, Canada to Douglas and Annie Elizabeth Harris Miller. He is survived by his wife Betty Jean, six children, three stepchildren, 20 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers and a sister: Colin (Nancy), Bountiful, Utah; Donald (Janet), Ian (Liz), and Marilyn Steele (Don) all of Calgary, Alberta.

Leo served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in South Africa. He graduated from Brigham Young University and Marquette University Dental School.

He practiced dentistry in Calgary, Alberta Canada, Santa Maria, California and Layton, Utah.

He married Reta Elder in the Cardson Alberta Temple and together had six children: Stephen (Lynne), Calgary; Richard (Chelle), Australia; Bruce (Elyse), Newport Coast, California; John (Sandra) and Douglas (Jennifer), San Marcos, California; and Bonnie Des Jardin (Tom), Green Bay Wisconsin. Reta passed away in December, 1981.

He married Betty Jean Nelson Payne in October, 1982, in the Los Angeles Temple and gained three stepsons: Scott, Syracuse, Utah; Kent, San Diego, California; and Guy (Georgiann), Castle Rock, Colorado.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 7, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the Legacy Park Stake Center, 2024 S. 1475 W., Syracuse. Friends and family may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Bishop Mark Staker will preside.

Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery.
