Listen to Obituary

Dr. Judy Elsley, long-time Professor of English at Weber State University, passed away on April 9, 2026, after a long series of illnesses. She died at home, as she wished, with her husband, Alan Livingston, and her two cats, William (aka Mr. Trouble) and James (aka Mr. Gray).

In addition to her beloved husband and cats (not necessarily in that order), Judy is survived by her brother, Nick Elsley; her three bonus daughters, Rachel, Erica, and Andrea Livingston; her two bonus sons-in-law, Jake Hamilton and Shawn Robinson; her two bonus sisters, Shauna Livingston and Laurie Storey; her four immaculate grandchildren, Kaylee Livingston, Holden Robinson, and Beck and Ripple Hamilton; numerous friends and colleagues; and thousands of her students.

A memorial service will be held Saturday April 25, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family at a reception on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Community Center at Lindquist’s Office Building, 3434 Washington Blvd.

“Life is fleeting. And if you’re ever distressed, cast your eyes to the summer sky when the stars are strung across the velvety night. And when a shooting star streaks through the blackness, turning night into day, make a wish and think of me.”

Services will be live-streamed and available the day of the services by scrolling to the bottom of Judy’s obituary page at: www.lindquistmortuary.com where condolences may also be shared.
