Doyle Davis Sellers

Doyle Davis Sellers, 95, died January 24, 2012 in Ogden. He was born June 4, 1916 in Chandler, Arizona to Arthur Horton and Edith Carter Davis Sellers. At age 11, Doyle moved with the family to Sacramento, California, where he grew up. Following graduation from Sacramento High School he attended Sacramento Jr. College. Continuing his studies, he graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah in June 1937.

He served an LDS Mission in the East Central States Mission 1939 to 1941. Following his mission he served in the U.S. Army 1942 to December 1945, first as a private in the 89th Infantry Division. He then attended OCS at Fort Washington, Maryland followed by service as a captain in New Orleans, London, North Africa, Italy, France and Germany during World War II.

Following the war, he returned to Sacramento and married Louise Emily Torgersen in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. In 1962, the family moved to North Ogden, Utah and Doyle worked at the Ogden IRS Center, retiring in 1973.

Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Louise; two sons and three daughters, James (Shirley) Sellers, Wilton, CA; Kent (Ruth) Sellers, Taylorsville, UT; Anne (Nate) Pierce, Ogden, UT; Elaine (Gary) Fuller, Eden, UT; and Ruth (Del) Clawson, Layton, UT; brother, George Harold Sellers, Folsom, CA; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by son, Lee Sellers, parents, one brother and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family on Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.
