Listen to Obituary

Doyle Alvin Kerbs, age 69, passed peacefully in his sleep on April 26, 2026, at his home in Clearfield, Utah, with his wife by his side.

Doyle was born September 1, 1956, in Ogden, Utah, to Danny Alvin Kerbs and Carma Ruth Jones Kerbs. He grew up in Roy, Utah, where he rambunctiously got into mischief with his brothers and sisters. He graduated from Roy High School. He worked for Matco Tools where he met Annette Checketts. They married in February of 1981. Doyle became a bonus father to three children, and they had two children together, then later divorced.

Doyle later worked for the IRS, where he met his sweetheart, Kathleen Cazier Hodges. They were married on July 20, 2000, in Clearfield, Utah, and blended their families with her four daughters. Doyle retired from the IRS as a machine operator after 25 years of service.

Doyle’s favorite pastime was listening to old country music and drinking beer while reminiscing about the good ol’ days with friends and family—especially his buddy Ken Clough. He loved camping, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed watching the Steelers play football and cheering on the Utah Jazz. Doyle was an avid coin collector and loved reading the comics in the newspaper.

He was preceded in death by his father; parents-in-law: Al and Doris Cazier; siblings: Rickey Don Kerbs, Daylene Ann Kerbs, and Laretta Lynn Kerbs; brother-in-law: Jeff Cazier; sisters-in-law: Wendy Kerbs and Liz Kerbs; his bonus daughter: Allison Hodges; and his grandson: Kyle Doyle Purdum.

Doyle is survived by his wife; his mother; his children: Kenneth (Melanie) Kerbs and Shauna (Kyle) Greer; bonus children: Shane (Brandon) Cook, Wendi (Tony) Purdum, Anjanette (Darrell) Reese, Rebecca Higley, Katie (Mark) Bradshaw, Haylee Maestas; siblings: Lenny (Nancy) Kerbs, Marlin Kerbs, Shirlene (Ed) Hathaway, David (Connie) Kerbs and Dorene (Scott) Tucker; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
