Douglas William Stevens, age 56, was born on October 22, 1968, to William Angus Stevens and to Jeanne Louise Sylvester. He passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025. Bill and Jeanne had only been married for a little over a year when he arrived. They were delighted to have a healthy young boy in their newly created family. He was the first grandson to Jeanne’s parents, and he was spoiled by them. He accompanied them on many trips, including Disneyland. Doug often accompanied Bill to the family farm and the Stevens Cannery. He loved to be able to go with his father on as many occasions as possible. When he was quite young, he earned spending money by doing his chores at the cannery. Before he went to Roy Elementary, Utah, he would sit with the guys that worked at the factory and have a sack lunch with them. He often rode on the forklift, tractor, or columbine with his father.
Doug recently reported to his mom that the happiest days of his life were when we lived in Delco, Idaho, and he worked with his dad on the farm. Bill was an outstanding father, and we know that Doug is thrilled to be encircled again in his loving arms. In Doug’s early years he worked hard and played hard. He earned money from working and purchased a motorcycle. He drove that motorcycle all over our ranch. He fed cows, and like his father, monitored the cows in the mountainous area, which was part of our farmland. He helped his father plant wheat in the hills behind our home. The children also worked at clearing off rocks, etc. All four of the children became very close to their father. They would argue over who could go with him in his tractor. We lived by Pomerelle ski resort, and so our family would go skiing regularly. We would often go water skiing on the Snake River, while living in Delco, Idaho.
Douglas loved the outdoors. In his younger years our family went camping in West Yellowstone, Island Park, and many other places. In the summer we planned a yearly trip with our friends and their families to West Yellowstone and to Lava Hot Springs. We had a lot of fun adventures with the Blaine Schofield and Kent Hale families. Douglas loved to fly fish with his float tube on these trips.
Duglas in his later life enjoyed hiking and golfing, and he recently tried picking up skiing again. In February, he went skiing with his brother Gary. They planned a boy’s trip and went to Pomerelle skiing resort last February. His knees gave out and so he only made one run. Gary and Doug spent a lot of time together, at work and in play. They both worked in the mortgage business for years and presently work for First Colony Mortgage.
Douglas attended Utah State for one year and Weber State University for three years, majoring in business. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Douglas loved to read, do puzzles, do Lego’s and to play games with his family and friends. He loved watching cartoons, and he was watching Scooby Doo when he was found in his bed. Doug will be greatly missed by his friends and family here on earth.
Douglas is survived by his mother Jeanne Sylvester Stevens Hardy, his sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Scott Stauffer, his brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Stacey Stevens, his sister and brother in-law, Natalie Wilson Tyce and Mike Tyce.
Douglas was preceded in death by his father, Wiliam Angus Stevens, his brother-in-law, Adam Wilson, his stepfather Douglas Hardy, and his grandparents Angus and Lona Stevens and Louis and Genevieve Sylvester.
