**In Loving Memory of Douglas Evan Jensen**
1942 - 2026
Douglas Evan Jensen, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully in his home in Sandy, UT, on January 30, 2026 due to complications from heart failure. Doug was born in Salt Lake City, UT to Evan E. Jensen and Elizabeth (Beth) Boggess Jensen on March 12, 1942, and enjoyed a happy childhood in Murray, Utah. In his nearly 84 years, Doug embodied many roles throughout his life - athlete, scout, student, Marine, engineer, business owner, and Ute fan - but above all, he was a dedicated family man, an unwavering disciple of Jesus Christ, and a loyal friend.
Doug devoted his life to his family, and they meant everything to him. He loved Beverly, his cherished wife of over fifty-eight years, and provided for her and their seven children in every way. His service in the US Marine Corps, industrial engineering degree (Univ. of Utah), and Masters of Science in Industrial Administration (Purdue Univ.) prepared him for a successful and varied professional career. He excelled at creating, executing, and tracking a project through to completion, whether it was as a production manager at Cutter Labs, as the co-owner/operator of Security Fence Co., or as a manager of manufacturing at Fram Corp. Throughout his life, Doug was renowned for his work ethic, and he instilled this work ethic in each of his seven children at home and through weekend and evening fence jobs. Doug also found time for many collective and one-on-one adventures with his family--camping, hiking, fishing, and canoeing at many state and national parks. He loved to travel and did so extensively with Beverly. He supported his children and grandchildren in countless music and dance performances, sporting competitions, as well as academic and church events. Doug’s loyalty to his family extended to his parents, siblings and his Jensen and Boggess relatives, all of whom experienced his love and service.
Doug was a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ. His discipleship influenced all aspects of his earthly life. His testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ was planted by goodly parents and blossomed as a student at the University of Utah. At twenty-one, he served a mission to Japan for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He faithfully served in many callings in the Church, including scout master, high counselor, and executive secretary to two stake presidents. Doug learned invaluable lessons as a Boy Scout that shaped his character and guided his choices. After earning the rank of Eagle scout, he dedicated himself to uplifting young men, believing fervently in his duty to God, Country, fellow Scouts, and all people. His service in scouting helped countless boys grow into quality men. After retirement, Doug and Beverly served as temple workers in four temples and went on to serve in proselyting and service missions in Haiti, Japan, Australia, England (London temple), Illinois (Nauvoo temple), Utah (Temple Square), and Idaho. Doug was never shy about sharing the restored gospel that had brought him and his family such amazing joy.
Doug was a loyal friend. His positive and happy disposition and infectious smile helped him build and maintain friendships throughout his life. His capacity to love, serve, and connect with people was a gift he never hesitated to share. He maintained treasured friendships from Murray High School, his missions around the world, neighborhoods in Ogden and Sandy, and from everywhere in between. For the last four years of his life, even after a major stroke hindered his ability to speak, Doug continued to inspire and lift family, friends, and strangers through his on-going service, positivity and kindness.
Doug is survived by his beloved wife Beverly (Stevens); seven children: Layne (Sarah) Jensen, Lisa (Jeff) Hill, Melanie (Jason) Smith, Mark (Diane) Jensen, Matthew (Rebecca) Jensen, Angela (Gordon) Thomas, and Tyler (Mary) Jensen; three siblings: Jon (Janet) Jensen, Robert (Joni) Jensen, and Janet (Glen) Taylor; thirty-eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Evan and Elizabeth (Beth) Boggess Jensen.
As we remember Doug, let us celebrate a life well-lived—a life of family, faith, and friendship that continues to inspire all who knew him.
