Dorothy (Dottie) Theresa Babinsky Smith passed away on November 20th, 2025, at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, UT. Dottie was born on October 1st, 1956, in Harrisburg, PA to Dorothy Theresa Malloy Babinsky and John Paul Babinsky. She grew up in Middletown, PA until the age of 8 when her father “Jack” was transferred to Hill Air Force Base and moved the family to Layton, UT.
She graduated from Layton High School. She eventually met Allan at Pine View Reservoir, and it was love at first sight. So much so that their marriage lasted for 48 years. They raised three children at their house in Clinton, UT and they were the most important thing in her life, until the grandkids came along.
She is survived by her husband Allan Smith of Clinton, UT, sons Thomas Smith of Farr West, UT and Clayton Smith of Albuquerque, NM, daughter Mandy Smith of Harrisville, UT, grandchildren Killian and Khloe Smith of Farr West, UT Ruby Espiritu of Harrisville, UT, Destinie and Diego Sandoval of Olathe, KS, and brother Paul Babinsky of Kaysville, UT.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and John “Jack” Babinsky, and brothers Michael and John Babinsky.
Dottie was known for her humor, compassion, and just telling it how it was, but perhaps, is best known for her time working at Fremont Elementary and Doxey Elementary in Sunset, UT as a computer teacher and with the after-school program, allowing her to be a part of many people’s lives in the local community. She was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan (Go Birds!) and enjoyed doing art projects and hanging out in the backyard with her grandchildren. She was an amazing wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and most of all friend. She will be deeply missed.
There will be a Celebration of Life ceremony following her cremation at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 W. 5600 S., Roy, UT on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025, from 1pm to 3pm.
