LIBERTY – Dorothy Willard Sanders passed away at Deseret Health and Rehab surrounded by her loved ones on Monday, August 26, 2013. She was born on February 18, 1926 in Liberty, Utah, to Thomas and EmmeRette Atkinson. She spent her entire life in her beloved Valley.
On April 8, 1946 she married the love of her life, Gene L. Sanders in Liberty. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. They were married for 66 wonderful years until his death on April 9, 2012.
She was a Gold Card Member of the PRCA Rodeo where she was secretary and timer for over 50 years. Mom and dad enjoyed attending the rodeos whether it was going with the children or watching their grandchildren. Her family always came first. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, Richard (Judy) of Harrisville and Larry (Lynette) of West Haven; daughter, Kim (Craig) Wolverton of Farr West and son-in-law, John McFarland; 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene L. Sanders; daughter, Gerrie McFarland and great-grandson, Colby Shane Boren.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Access Hospice, especially the loving care that Shadd and Natalie gave to our Mom, and also to Deseret Health and Rehab with a special thanks to Erica and Jean.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
