Doris Moore Telford

March 9, 1931 ~ June 3, 2022

Doris Moore Telford, 91, stepped into the next life at the home of her youngest son, Jay, on the morning of June 3, 2022. She was born in Blackfoot, Idaho to Richard Dubois and Winifred Satterthwaite Moore on March 9, 1931. At three years old, her father died, and her mother remarried to Glen “Stop” Thomas, who was a wonderful stepfather. She graduated from Ogden High School and married George Richard “Dick” Telford on September 10, 1949. They were blessed with three sons.

Doris loved being a wife and mother. Nothing made her happier than to have her family gathered for a barbeque. She was an excellent cook and passed down her favorite recipes so the family could continue enjoying her famous clam dip, Nana’s punch, white chocolate covered popcorn, banana cake, Christmas cookies and more. Of course, they’ll never taste quite like they did when she made them. Doris was an outstanding entertainer and hosted many parties for family and friends.

She had precious lifelong friends in her “31 group”, many with whom she attended high school. Always close and supportive of each other, they got together as often as possible, especially in later years. Between Dick and Doris, they always left a 31 party with plenty of quarters! Although she was legally blind, Doris played a competitive game and was often the first to “knock” or declare “31!”.

“Darling Doris” and her self-proclaimed alter ego, “Feisty Frieda” will be missed daily by her family and two fur-babies, Abbie and Fiona. They were her constant companions and sources of pure joy and comfort. She was a very strong woman who overcame many challenges throughout her life. She faced them with her incredible husband of nearly 70 years. Shortly before she passed, she reminisced about her marriage saying she was fortunate to have been truly happy her entire life. She was dearly loved and completely fulfilled.

She is survived by her brother, Victor (Gwen) Moore of South Ogden, UT; children, Craig (Sandra) Telford of Parma, ID; Boyce (Nora) Telford of Idaho Falls, ID; and Jay (Kimberly) Telford of South Weber, UT; grandchildren, Zack (Trisha), Sunny, Russell (Alena), Benjamin (Mikel), Daniel (Stacy) and Jayson (Allison); great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Winifred; stepfather, Stop, in-laws, Sterlin and Bernetta; husband, Dick; granddaughter, Emily; and grandson, Devin.

The family extends appreciation to those who cared for her including Marsha, Monica and Christine from Visiting Angels, Justin, Lindsey and Amelia from Aspen Ridge Home Care, Laura and Sunny from Intermountain Hospice, Dr. Gangwer and his staff, and all caregivers, especially Carlene and Earl, at Pineview Rehab. To all of you, and those not mentioned, she appreciated your tender care and assistance over recent years.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Zack Telford, Russell Telford, Benjamin Telford, Daniel Telford, and Jayson Telford.

According to her wishes, cremation and ennichment and with her husband will take place under the direction of Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
