Donna Louise Perko passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, surrounded by family and friends.
Donna was born on October 16, 1945, in Ogden, Utah. She grew up in Washington Terrace and Roy. She graduated from Weber High School. Donna went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Utah State University. After spending a year in Seattle, Washington, she returned to Utah and began a distinguished career in education.
Donna taught for 32 years, beginning at T.H. Bell Junior High School in Odgen, continuing at North Layton Junior High School, and concluding at Farmington Junior High. Throughout her career she positively impacted countless students and was honored with multiple service awards for her dedication as an educator.
Donna married Bill Perko, and together they lived in Roy before settling in Layton. They enjoyed traveling, Mexican food, tennis, and yard work. Following retirement, Donna and Bill became snowbirds in Mesquite, Nevada, a place Donna lovingly referred to as her “happy place”. She especially enjoyed the Mesquite Senior Center, where she made many friends, and spent her time playing cards. Donna was also an avid reader and could easily spend her entire day reading a good book.
Donna volunteered her time at Ogden Regional Hospital and the Mesquite Senior Center, continuing her lifelong commitment to serve others.
Donna also loved visiting San Francisco and Rockaway Beach in Pacifica. She was a devoted Elvis fan and enjoyed listening to his music endlessly. Though small in structure, Donna had a vibrant personality and lasting presence.
Donna was the eldest of five siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents, Preston and Doris Lindsey; her sisters Glena and Peggy; and her husband Bill Perko.
She is survived by her son Lindsey (Janel) Perko; her grandsons, Justin and Logan; and her brothers, Preston Lindsey and Kevron (Judy) Lindsey. The family extends special thanks to Roz Van Vleet and Sharon Neider for their kindness and friendship.
