Donald LeRoy “Don” White, Sr., 91, of Pleasant View, passed away at his home of natural causes following 2 recent falls, both resulting in a broken back.
Don was born on February 8, 1934 in Pomona, California, the son of Reuel Arnold and Ruth Juanita Tappan White.
Raised an only child and schooled in California, Don graduated from high school and began working hard right away.
On April 18, 1953, Don married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Thompson in Parker, Arizona. Together they raised three children in California and later in Utah, namely: Wendy, Donald, Jr., and Robbie.
Don loved the outdoors and spending time there with Barbara. An avid bird hunter and fisherman, Don had gotten into racing pigeons while still in high school and pursued this hobby throughout his life. Raising and training pigeons brought him a lot of joy.
Don, Barbara, and family moved from California to Utah and became converted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple
Don worked at ATK-Thiokol while the space shuttle booster rockets were in development. He went on to work as a machinist for Williams International Aerospace Company, retiring after a very fulfilling career in metals manufacturing.
Don’s work ethic and love for his family, coupled with his outdoor spirit, made him a wonderful husband and father and provider. His example, his values, and his testimony will continue to impact his family, friends, and others who knew and loved him well, for generations to come.
He will be remembered for cheering us on with rallying cries such as, “Stay on the road!,” and “Stick with it!” Don, we love you and we promise to stay on the road, until we meet again.
Don is survived by his wife, Barbara White, Pleasant View; daughter, Wendy (Bill) Jenks, Pleasant View; and sons, Donald L. (Karen) White, Jr., and Rob (Jan) White, both of Liberty; 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Amee Jenks.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, 586 East 2850 North, North Ogden.
