Donald "Butch" Pearcey Gladwell II

Donald “Butch” Pearcey Gladwell II passed away peacefully on July 31,2025 in Centerville, UT due to pneumonia and other age-related illness. Although all his sons wished to be there by his side, he was in the company of his so Gareth at the time of his passing. Donald was born in Ogden, UT, on October 3,1939 at the Dee Hospital to Donald Pearcey Gladwell, Sr. and Loretta Marie White. He was married for a time to Shirley Lee Romary.

Having lived in the Ogden area his whole life, he attended Ben Lomond High School and graduated in 1958. Over the years he was a hard worker and had various jobs which included employment at Yellowstone National Park, a battery manufacturing company, and a carpet cleaning business. Most notably he worked logistics at Cream of Weber for most of his working years. He was also employed at Cerrowire for a time prior to his retirement at 63. 

He enjoyed going for long drives in the mountains and would do so as often as he could. There were times when he would be gone for most of the day enjoying the scenic canyons. He also frequently attended the Mountain Man Rendezvous and was given the name Tumbleweed, a fitting name for someone who loved to go on small journeys enjoying the surrounding mountains. 

He was very quiet and reserved but also had a fun-loving side to him where he loved to play silly little pranks and make jokes. Most of which were playfully directed at his grandchildren, who he also enjoyed spending time with. He liked to sit and watch western movies and listen to country music. He also loved trains and made it a point to see the old steam engine that would occasionally roll through Ogden.

Donald is survived by five sons, Arnold, Donald III, Spencer (Becky), Lance (Anna), Gareth (Brandi); and one daughter, Annette (Gary). He is also survived by one sister, Jeraldine, 12 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Marsha, Genette, and Virginia.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 3 p.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd. with Bishop Parry or a counselor of the Adams Ward officiating. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the caretakers and hospice staff of Sunflower Ridge Assisted Living for providing such great care for Donald in his final stages of life.
