Dolores “Doris” Perez Manalus Schragal, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of God, returned to her Heavenly Father on November 23, 2025, in Utah. She was born on September 13, 1956, in Mabalacat, Pampanga, Philippines, to her parents Lorenza Perez and Rizolino Manalus.
Doris married the love of her life, Thomas J. Schragal, on October 27, 1980, in Syracuse, New York. Together they built a beautiful life filled with dedication, joy, and unwavering love. In 1986, they made Layton, Utah, their home, where Doris spent the rest of her years surrounded by family and community.
Doris dedicated thirty years of service to her career at Job Corps, serving as a Residential Advisor. She approached her work with compassion and purpose, striving to help young people develop the skills and confidence needed to lead meaningful, successful lives. Her steady guidance and commitment impacted countless students over the decades.
A woman of strong Catholic faith, Doris lived a life centered on prayer and carried her faith with strength, humility, and gratitude. She was a longtime member of Christ Prince of Peace Parish on Hill Air Force Base, where she joyfully served in the church choir, offering her radiant voice in praise to the Lord. She also attended Mass at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, where her spiritual devotion continued to grow.
Doris also loved to sing and dance — music was one of the many ways she expressed joy. Cooking was another. Her kitchen was the heart of every gathering, filled with the aromas of the dishes she mastered and the comfort they brought. Through her extraordinary culinary skills, she showed her love in the most tender, personal way. Every meal she prepared made her family and friends feel welcomed, cared for, and deeply cherished, reminding all who sat at her table that they were loved.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Schragal; her children Paul (Kherie), Erika (Brendon), Ernie, and Jessica (Louie); and her beloved grandchildren Vauzh, Aiko, Sovanrae, Oudom, Keanon, Colton, Charlie, and Sierra. She is also survived by her siblings Roberto, Wilma, and Rolando Manalus, along with many extended family members who cherished her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lorenza and Rizolino Manalus; her brother, Renato Manalus; her daughter, Jariya Schragal; and numerous other loved ones who welcomed her home.
Doris was a joyful, kindhearted soul whose smile and laughter could brighten any room. She devoted her life to caring for her family, and while she loved her husband and children deeply, she absolutely adored her grandchildren. Her happiest moments were spent traveling with her family, celebrating traditions with her FYF, embracing her love for fashion, and enjoying the simple thrill of Triple 7’s!
