Dolores Kohler 1928 – 2015

Dolores Marie White Kohler (87) died October 8, 2015.  She was born in Rochester, New York to Thomas Beranda White and Kathryn Eleanor Held.  She was raised by her beloved “Gram” and spent many hours under an arbor playing with her cherished cat.  She attended Holy Apostles Grammar School and graduated from Nazareth Academy High School.

She was introduced to the LDS Church by her future husband, Reuel Kohler, while he was in the Navy attending the University of Rochester for the V-12 program during WWII.    She joined the church, married Reuel, moved to Providence, Utah, and started a family.  During the Korean War, she moved her family of preschoolers to where her husband was stationed – the tiny island Adak, Alaska in the Aleutians.  Following the Korean War the family settled first in Rose Park in Salt Lake and then in Bountiful, Utah.

Dolores became a real estate agent hoping to earn enough money to bring her mother west, but her mother died before that was possible.    She eventually obtained her Broker’s License, Commercial General Appraiser Certificate, and Property Manager Certificate (CPM); she was very active in the Real Estate market for many years.  Dolores and Reuel established West Wind Sales and Supply where they sold high-end trailers.  They opened and operated the Sandcastle Movie Theaters in Bountiful for 22 years.

She later graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Music.  She enjoyed serving in the church in any capacity from Primary pianist to serving a full time mission with her husband at the Los Angeles Temple Visitor Center; she particularly enjoyed her time working in the Bountiful and Jordan River Temples.

Dolores loved every minute of her extensive travels through Mexico, Canada and Europe.  She enjoyed her association with the musical Mu Phi Epsilon Sorority and was a life-long voracious reader.

Her husband and one grandchild preceded her in death.  She is survived by her four children: Richard (Jennifer) Kohler, Kathryn Farnsworth, Linda (Ted) Barnes and Pamela Connors.  She leaves 16 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren.  She will be greatly missed by her posterity. A special thank you to Comfort Worx Hospice and Wentworth Assisted Living for their loving care.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Lindquist Mortuary, 727 North 400 East, Bountiful, Utah, beginning at noon.  Friends may call at the mortuary beginning one hour before the funeral.  Interment will be in the Providence, Utah Cemetery.
