Dianne Douglas Ries peacefully passed away in the early hours of December 9, 2025, at her home in the loving care of her family and amazing staff of Elevation Hospice Care.

She was born third of six children to Gordon and Ruby Douglas, April 22, 1947, of Murray, Utah.

She graduated from Murray High School as did her siblings. She then married her best friend Joseph David Ries, on July 5, 1969. The following year they welcomed their only child Wendi to their small family. They soon moved to Clearfield and then Layton where they spent the rest of their days.

After moving to Clearfield, Dianne began her career at Hill Air Force Base where she later retired as a Procurement Supervisor. She also loved to volunteer and spent many holiday seasons working with the Base Sub for Santa program. She also volunteered her time to the annual Base Airshows. The highlight of her volunteer career was participating as greeter at the 2002 Utah Winter Olympics.

Dianne loved gardening, farmers’ markets, festivals, family gatherings and especially her grandchildren. She also belonged to a ladies’ Pinochle Card Club with her Co-workers who became life-long-friends. Every year they would exchange homemade Christmas ornaments which made the holidays a little more special.

Dianne is survived by her daughter Wendi (Chris), granddaughter Breanna, grandson Gadge, granddaughter Olivia, sister Nancy (Kenny), sister Carrie, brother David (Gina) and sister Debbie.

She is preceded in death by her parents Gordon and Ruby Douglas, her husband David Ries, her sister Sylvia, and her nephew Tommy Ries lived with her family for many years.
