Diane Ralph Bauer passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, following a period of declining health. She was born on December 15, 1938, in Preston, Idaho, to Charles and Ruth Ralph. Diane spent much of her childhood in Logan, Utah, where she was lovingly raised by close family friends, Grandpa and Grandma Jensen, along with the support and care of extended family and dear friends who helped shape her early years.
After her childhood years in Logan, Diane moved with her mother to the Salt Lake Valley, where she spent her teenage years. During high school, she was an active member of the pep club and enjoyed dance and other school activities, graduating from Granite High School in 1957. After graduation, she began working at Walker Bank in downtown Salt Lake City. Even in those early years, Diane’s heart was set on family—she always dreamed of being a mother and planned for a life filled with children.
After meeting and dating for two years, Diane married the love of her life and eternal sweetheart, Richard “Pete,” on March 29, 1958. Later that year, the young couple moved to Layton, Utah, where they began building their family and a life together. In time, they were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. Diane always felt deeply blessed to become part of the Bauer family and grew especially close to her husband’s parents, brother, and extended family, including aunts and uncles. She cherished the time they spent together, particularly during visits with family in Eureka, Utah.
Diane faithfully served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, generously sharing her time and talents through years of devoted service. She taught and led in both the Primary and Relief Society, and also served in ward and stake presidencies for these organizations. She felt especially blessed to be part of the Layton West Stake.
Diane was talented and found great joy in sewing, cooking, and raising her eight children. She continued to share those gifts throughout her life, working in the kitchen for the Davis School District and helping make and sell chocolates at Mrs. Cavanaugh’s, always taking pride in the care and dedication she put into everything she did. In the later years of their marriage, Diane became an exceptional caregiver to her husband, serving him with quiet strength, unwavering positivity, and selfless love. She never complained, meeting her responsibilities with grace and a grateful heart.
Diane is survived by her children: Rick (Ellen), Suzanne (Gordon) Nance, Scott (Stephanie), Ken (Erica), Paul (Michele), Michelle (Lloyd) Richards, Ruth Ann (Jason) Bell, and Mark; along with 28 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pete; her parents, Charles and Ruth Ralph; and her sister, Patsy Lee.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at Whisper Cove Assisted Living in Kaysville and the dedicated staff of Atlas Home Health for the loving care they provided to Diane. A very special thank-you is also extended to her dear friend, Tyler with Atlas, whose kindness and friendship meant so much to her.
