Dennis Marvin Wright passed away on December 14, 2023 in Tyler, Texas. Dennis was born November 30, 1943 to Marvin and June Wright in Ogden, Utah. He was 4 years old when he met his dad for the first time as a result of Marv’s service in WW2.

He suffered from hip perthes as a boy, but never let it slow him down. He loved sports, baseball, running, golf and bowling. He also loved dancing.

Dennis met and married Connie Jean Thurgood in June of 1962. They had 6 very active sport and dance loving children. They competed in several dance competitions and golf and bowling tournaments together. He loved playing softball and golfing with his boys. Dennis and Connie were married for 30 years.

Dennis remarried December 31, 1994 to Jeanette Heath. Together they ran Belle Amie Kennels and won many dog shows around the country. They moved to Streetman, Texas to be closer to Jeanette’s parents. He adopted every cat, racoon and possum he could and fed them all. He also took the time to teach his grandkids to play poker.

He leaves behind his wife, Jeanette; best friend, Connie; children, Guy (Sara) Wright, Brian (Joyce) Wright, Troy (Pam) Wright, Derek Wright, Anjanette (Reed) Sorensen, and Andrea (Nate) Childs; 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Neil (Coleen) Wright and sister, Suzette Goodwin (Lanny DeVault).

Preceded in death by parents, Marvin and June Wright; three sisters, Cheryl Fowers, Ruth Ellen Porath and Dawnell Overton; and two grandchildren.

The burial will be held January 19, 2024 in the West Point City Cemetery.

Arrangements in Utah entrusted to Lindquist’s Syracuse Mortuary.
