Dennis Orson Rogers, age 77, passed away peacefully at his home in Plain City, Utah, on September 26, 2025.
Born on September 4, 1948, to Harold Archie Rogers and Ruth Mae Hipwell, Dennis was raised in Weber County and graduated from Weber High School. He later attended Weber State College and began a 47-year career at Hill Air Force Base.
In 1968, Dennis was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he served honorably as a transportation specialist, primarily stationed in Germany. After returning home, he married the love of his life Sharilyn Simons, on June 13, 1970, in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Together, Dennis and Sharilyn raised four children, Jason (Carolee) Rogers, Kathy (Jesse) Foster, Kristy (Brent) Neel, and Russell (Lindy) Rogers. He was a proud grandpa to 12 grandchildren, whom he adored and loved sharing adventures with.
Dennis was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings throughout his life. He especially cherished his time working with the young men and, later in life, teaching Primary.
A true adventurer, Dennis loved the outdoors. He found great joy in the mountains—horseback riding, rafting rivers, and camping. He had a deep appreciation for the beauty of the earth and loved sharing it with others, especially his grandchildren, the youth, and those young at heart. In later years, he developed a passion for cruising and loved traveling the world by sea with Sharilyn.
Dennis was deeply committed to his community. He served as a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician with the Plain City Fire Department for 32 years, was an active member and Treasurer of the Plain City Lions Club, and contributed to local government through his service on the Board of Adjustments.
His legacy of service, love for adventure, and devotion to family and faith will be remembered by all who knew him.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Diane Andersen and Beverly Simmons; and his brother, Michael Rogers.
