Denise Hamblen

July 28, 1966 — July 14, 2025

The morning of July 14, 2025, Denise Hamblen was lovingly embraced by her mother and beloved Grandma Hamblen.

Denise was born in Ogden, UT on July 28, 1966 to Ronald C and Jane E Olsen Hamblen. She lived the majority of her life in Riverdale, with a brief 20-year break, in Murray. Denise graduated from Bonneville High School in 1984.

After high school, Denise traveled to New York to be a nanny. While there, she developed a love for Broadway Shows and the New York Yankees. This love continued throughout her lifetime.

Denise served her community by volunteering for several organizations, with the House of Hope and Ronald McDonald House being a couple of her favorites. Denise’s loyalty, commitment and dedication wasn’t based upon receipt of a paycheck. She gave 110% to her job and 110% to her volunteer work.

In 2020, Denise was diagnosed with Stage 4 Adenocarcinoma, and defied the odds by conquering this awful disease for 5 years. Denise had, and kept, a positive attitude with her diagnosis and treatment plan. Like her mom, Denise had her own ‘warrior’ strength in battling this disease, but she remained kind to those around her. Her gratitude for her care team was on display at each appointment.

Denise lived life to the fullest and knew what was important, family and friends. In fact, she considered her friends, family.

While serving a mission in Germany, Denise received her greatest role yet - Aunt Niece.

Denise is survived by her father; sister, Kris (Len) Janson; nephew, Alex (Teisha); niece, KeiLee (Cody); great-nieces, Skyliee, Logan, and Quinn; great-nephews, Mack, Bennett, and Rhett; and the friend that became a sister, Kris Sorenson; with bonus nieces, Kellie, Kacee, Koye, Katie, and Kimmee; bonus nephew, Kole. She was preceded in death by her mother, brother, grandparents and many family members.

The family expresses appreciation to Denise’s many health care providers, in particular Dr. Kathy Mauer, Dr. Anna Beck and Dr. Teresa Werner at the Huntsman’s Cancer Institute; Carra Brandley McKay Dee Internal Medicine.
