Listen to Obituary

Former Teton Valley resident DeLores Carrol Jenkins passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, at the age of 91 in Layton Utah. DeLores was born on August 28, 1934, in Driggs Idaho, the only child of Davd Andrew Johnson and Los Foster Johnson.

She spent her early youth and young adult years growing up in Teton Valley and was always proud of her heritage. DeLores consistently demonstrated awareness and gratitude for her lineage, which traced back to some of the earliest settlers of Teton Valley. She often said she felt blessed with a unique set of experiences that could not be duplicated anywhere else.

DeLores grew up on a farm and ranch in Darby where she helped her father milk cows and manage the farm. She also worked in a locally owned café in downtown Driggs. The café was owned and named after her mother, Lois’ Café. Many old timers will remember Lois’ Café because of Delores’ sparkling smile and helpful service.

Music played a significant role in her childhood. Her mother bought a piano for her and DeLores spent many hours teaching herself how to play the piano. She was also a member of the Teton High School band and played the clarinet.

After graduating from Teton High School, she spent a year attending Idaho State University where she studied music. Music played a defining role and key role throughout her life.

After a year at college, she met and married the love of her life, Ralph Jenkins, from Victor, Idaho. They were married on June 15, 1954, in her parents’ home in Darby. Ther marriage was truly a lifetime love affair that led them to different towns in Idaho for her husband’s employment.

They were blessed with two amazing sons, Blair, and David Craig who they raised together. DeLores was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous callings where she had a positive impact on many young people. She and Ralph solemnized their marriage in the Idaho Falls temple on November 21, 1967, and became an eternal family.

With all these experiences she never lost her love for Teton Valley and returned there as often as possible. DeLores is survived by her two sons Blair (Ladenea) Sandy Utah and Craig (Cindy) of Perry Utah. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren with one more great grandchild on the way.
