Our beloved mother Debra “Debbie”, age 67, passed away on June 3, 2025 at Grove Creek Assisted Living in Lindon, Utah due to complications associated with diabetes.
Debbie was born on May 28, 1958 in Provo, Utah, to her loving parents Harold Max Jorgensen and Maurine Beck Jorgensen. She was the fourth of five children. Growing up, Debbie loved spending time with her sister, younger brother, her grandparents and her beloved Aunt Denie Beck. She enjoyed the outdoors and had fond memories of camping trips, riding her horse, and spending time in Ophir, Utah, where her dad was raised. Debbie graduated from Pleasant Grove High School and later earned an associates degree from Ricks Junior College (Rexburg, Idaho).
Debbie had a tremendous work ethic, instilled in her by her parents. While in high school, she started working at Skaggs Drug & Home Center and continued working there during her education at both Ricks and Utah State University (Logan, Utah). She was promoted from Logan, as a receiving clerk, to Nampa, Idaho, as a warehouse manager. There she met and married Scott Reece and together they had 2 children - Megann and Luke. They later divorced and Debbie moved back to Utah and continued to work for Skaggs for several years. Debbie then made a career change to Affiliated Title, an opportunity made possible by her dear friend and colleague, Mark Harris.
When times got tough as a single parent, Debbie got tougher! To help raise her two children, she worked multiple jobs for 10+ years — cleaning office spaces and working weekends at a local Chevron gas station. Debbie finished her working career retiring from Utah Valley University bookstore in 2019, after nearly 17 years as a front-end manager.
In 1999, Debra met Don Peterson. They married May 1st, 2000, and had a great life together before Don’s passing in 2018. Debbie found joy in the simple things; she enjoyed traveling, reading, building bird houses, creating arts and crafts, decorating her home, doing gardening and yard work, helping her parents, and always supporting her kids and their families.
Before her passing, Debbie expressed her sincere gratitude saying, “It was so good that I had help when I was a single mom. I could not have done it without Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Denie!”
Debbie is survived by her children Megann (Marc) Brimhall and Luke (Amanda) Reece, her 10 grandchildren [Samantha, Trevor, Mikaela, Kaden, Hudson, Olivia, Everett, Leo, Ivy & Mara], her siblings Elaine (Wayne) Wilson and Kent Jorgensen, and her nieces and nephews. Debbie was preceded in death by her husband Don Peterson, her parents, and her brothers [Dan and Ned].
Debbie’s family wants to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff, CNAs, caretakers and residents of Grove Creek Assisted Living, as well as the nurses and providers from Intermountain Hospice Care, and to all those who supported and cared for her towards the end of her life.
An intimate family gathering to honor and celebrate her life will be held in the fall, her favorite time of year.
Debbie loved multiple pets throughout her life, especially her puppy, Dashboard. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local animal shelter.
