David Franklin Squire

Our dear Father and best friend, David Franklin Squire, 53, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, May 22, under competent medical care and surrounded by his family.  He joins his beloved daughter Camille in his Heavenly Father’s presence.

David, a true “family man”, lived his life to serve those he loved.  A farm boy from Ephraim, UT, David excelled in sports and any sort of hands-on type of work.  It was his love of basketball that led him to BYU Hawaii and his beautiful wife, Alison.  It wasn’t long before they were married in the Salt Lake Temple.  David, realizing that basketball was not a family career, returned to Utah State University on a path that would eventually lead him to Accounting and Master of Public Administration degrees.

He built Alison her dream home in Kaysville, UT, where he taught his family to work hard and have faith in Jesus Christ.  He served his Savior in the Young Men’s program for most of his sons’ growing years, always treasuring and talking about that experience.  He later served as Bishop and High Counselor, and built friendships in those callings that will last through the eternities.  Not always an eloquent speaker, David expressed his testimony through his actions; a firm believer that actions speak much louder than words.  He leaves a wonderful legacy of faith for his family.

David was dedicated to providing for his family.  He was a leader in his profession and is recognized nationally for his financial work in the medical and dental fields.  Most recently, David helped his dear friend and colleague, Dr. Lynn Powell, fulfill his dream of establishing a dental school in Utah.  He made a lasting impression there with his students, colleagues, and friends.

David was preceded in death by his daughter Camille, and is survived by his wife Alison, his children Devin (Jenica), Matthew (Heather), Jason, Rachel, Emma, and Olivia, and by his grandchildren Ethan, Aaliyah, Wade, Corbin, and McKinley.  He also leaves behind his loving parents, Meade and Ina, and his eleven brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 27, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Kaysville Stake Center, 615 North Flint Street.  Friends may visit family Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Friday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
