David Richard Petersen

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David Richard Petersen. Dave passed away unexpectedly at age 43 on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, due to complications from liver failure. Dave was a gifted musician and brilliant engineer, with a kind heart and quick wit. He was an animal lover who enjoyed camping and fishing with his friends, coaching his children’s soccer teams, watching his daughter dance, his son swim, and making his wife laugh with ridiculous jokes.

He was born to Richard Charles Petersen and Helen Moody Petersen on October 10, 1979. He is survived by his wife Jessica Flenniken Petersen and his two children, Amelie, and Holden. Dave leaves behind his mother, Helen Moody Petersen, his sister, Leslie Petersen Miller, brother-in-law Jason Miller, niece and nephew Peyton and Collin Miller, in-laws Jay Flenniken and Julie Olson, and brother-in-law James Flenniken, as well as countless friends, cousins, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Pete.

Friends may visit with family on Friday, October 28, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah. A private family graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022.
