David Elhanan Fisher

David Elhanan Fisher (73) of Syracuse, Utah and Olathe, Kansas sadly lost his battle with cancer and MS on Sunday, September 28, 2025. David was born June 24, 1952, in Manhattan, KS and was the third child and only son of Elhanan Davis Fisher and Elizabeth Anne (Peterson) Fisher.

At an early age, his parents and his three sisters moved to Olathe, KS, where he grew up, went to public schools, and attended St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Growing up, David was involved in Little League baseball. It was through that experience David became an ardent Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals fan. From childhood through retirement, David developed and fine-turned his love for cars. After graduation from Olathe North High School in 1970, he enrolled in the Auto Mechanics Technical program at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS, and received his Technical Certificate in 1971. While at Pittsburg State, he met the woman who would become his wife.

On August 19, 1972, he and Alice Margaret Miller were united in marriage at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Olathe, KS. Their two children, Leslie Dianne and Andrew David, were born while David and Alice lived in Olathe. In 1986, David and his family moved to Clearfield, UT where he was the shop manager at Ryder Diesel. After 40 years, he retired from Ryder in 2017. His leisure and retirement years were devoted to Jeepin’, fishing, NASCAR, watching the Chiefs, and traveling in the family RV to locations around the U.S. David’s greatest joys in life were his family, his Studebakers and the Kansas City Chiefs.

David was preceded in death by both his parents, Elhanan and Elizabeth Fisher, his sister Karolynn Fisher, his parents in law, Fred and Dellemarette Miller, and his brothers in law, Fred Miller and Ted Gardner. His many cherished pets also preceded him in death and were surely awaiting him as he arrived in Heaven.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Alice; his daughter, Leslie McNeely (Raymond); his son, Andrew Fisher (Amber); his sisters, Kathy Gardner and Connie Campbell; his two cherished honorary children, Jennifer Nye and Charles Casias; his treasured nieces and nephews, and his three dogs.

The Gathering and Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, October 11, at Lindquist Syracuse Mortuary in Syracuse, Utah (869 South 2000 West, Syracuse, UT).

The Gathering will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. During that time, guests are encouraged to tell their favorite David stories. The family asks guests to keep the mood light-hearted so that all may remember David as the silly, kind, selfless, and fun-loving person they all knew and loved.

The Memorial Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Guests are invited to stay after the service to bid David a special farewell at 3:00 p.m.

There will be a family and friends graveside gathering at the Gardner Cemetery in Gardner, Kansas on or around June 24, 2026, for family and close friends in that area to pay their respects. Details for that service will be released at a later date.
